YOUR CHOICES

Cookies & storage policy.

What Scout stores in your browser, how optional storage works, and how to change your choices or delete data.

Updated September 9, 2026 · Applies to this Scout website.

Your choice comes first

Scout uses browser local storage rather than application cookies. Optional storage stays off until you select Allow preferences or enable it in Privacy settings. You can still browse, compare models, and enter hardware reports with it off; choices then last only while the current page remains open.

We do not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, tracking pixels, or third-party embedded media. Closing the notice or continuing to browse is not consent.

What is stored

Storage keyPurposeDuration
scout-privacy-choiceEssential: your allow/decline choice, policy version, decision date, and expiry. No advertising identifier.Valid for 180 days; renewed after a new choice. An expired record may remain but no longer permits optional storage.
scout-saved, scout-followingOptional: saved models and followed makers.Until you delete them or clear browser data.
scout-compare, scout-filtersOptional: comparison selections and library filters.Until changed or deleted.
scout-hardware, scout-reportsOptional: your hardware setup and self-reported measurements.Until you delete them or clear browser data.
scout-last-visitOptional: enables the “Since my last visit” filter.Replaced on your next visit while storage is allowed, or until deleted.

These records are first-party and stay in this browser. They are not uploaded to Privaj or shared with model providers. Your browser may separately cache website files and catalog responses to load the site efficiently; those caches do not contain an advertising identifier.

Change, export, or delete

Open Privacy settings from any page’s footer to change your decision. Declining stops optional reads and writes immediately. Previously saved records remain untouched until you delete them, and are restored if you allow preferences again. The same applies to records saved before this consent feature was introduced.

Export saved data to download a copy, or choose Delete saved data and confirm to remove Scout’s optional records. The privacy decision remains so Scout remembers that optional storage is off. Use your browser’s site-data controls to remove that record and its caches too. For reports created with storage off, use Export reports in My hardware before closing the page.

Decisions apply to this browser and site address, not other browsers or devices. If browser storage is blocked, Scout works for the current visit and may ask again next time. A material change to storage purposes requires a new choice.

Cloudflare delivery and security

Cloudflare delivers and protects the public website. Depending on the security checks applied to a request, it may set necessary security cookies such as cf_clearance. These are separate from Scout’s optional browser preferences and are not controlled by the preference switch. Cookie names, purposes, and applicable durations are described in Cloudflare’s cookie documentation.

Other websites and questions

Source links open other websites, which have their own privacy and storage practices. Scout’s preference controls do not control those sites. Questions: [email protected].
